Species: Rocky Mountain Elk | Location: Yellowstone National Park, United States of America
As we made our way across the Lamar Valley, one of the guides spotted a number of female elk (cervus elaphus nelsoni) grazing just over the snowbank. This was our first elk encounter of the trip and we stopped to get some shots.
This photo was one of about 20 shots of this elk, but the only one where she was peeking over the ridge with her nose and eyes properly exposed.
