Once in a Lifetime

Species: American White Pelicans | Location: Tennessee River/ Hiwassee River, United States

This photo was taken after a very large group of American white pelicans (over 200) rested on a small inlet on the Hiwassee River in Decatur, Tennessee. I got out on the boat and waited until it was somewhat calm and the sun went down. During the sunset the small grouping to the left were watching us watching them without the water being disturbed. I LOVE this shot, not only for the light, but the opportunity since these pelicans are not seen very often in Tennessee.

About The Photographer

I have lived in Dallas and Austin but I relocated to Decatur Tennessee and now live on the Hiwassee River. I love photography and I love catching images of any type of wildlife specifically Eagles. I use a Canon 6D Mark ii after I wore my Canon Rebel out! As my photography knowledge improves, I hope my camera improves. Since it is a hobby currently, (although expensive ) I just have to be patient and to buy equipment when I can, but I love it. It may take hours waiting for one shot but it’s time well spent.
