The Perfect Pounce

Species: Red Fox | Location: Park County, Colorado, United States

Despite bitterly cold temperatures, this juvenile female fox, playfully pounced on her mother who was curled up enjoying the sunshine outside the den. This fox family is one I have followed for several years. The mother is likely letting her daughter, born in the spring of 2015, stay to help with this year's young, to serve as babysitter and to help hunt to feed her new kits. Photographed at 9,000 ft. elevation in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

About The Photographer

Cropped mindy photographing elk

After retiring from a career as an elementary school teacher, I am fortunate to be able to pursue my love of photography. I love travel and have been across the United States and to many countries in pursuit of wildlife. I live high in Colorado's Rocky Mountains where I enjoy abundant wildlife and photo opportunities.
