Species: Lioness (Panthera leo) | Location: Maasai Mara, Kenya
My group visited the lions atop a large rock formation in northern Kenya several times at dawn and dusk. After a night of hunting, several lionesses and their cubs would climb onto the rock and survey the land below before heading off into the brush to sleep. They were totally unconcerned about us and our vehicle. Fortunately, my long telephoto zoom lens with a tele extender allowed me to draw the animals in while staying at a safe distance.

About The Photographer
I am an avid amateur photographer. My favorite subjects to photograph are wild animals (African wildlife, predators, bison) and landscapes. I travel several times a year in search of new and exciting places to explore and photograph. All profits from the sale of calendars and prints are donated to the Elephant Crisis Fund, which fights the poaching of African elephants through monitoring, intervention and education.
