Species: King Penguins | Location: Fortuna Bay, South Georgia Island, Antarctica
The day was cold, windy and snowy in South Georgia. We landed at Fortuna Bay and I headed out to the king penguin colony to try to get pictures of feeding behavior. The brown, fuzzy birds are the Okum Boys - king penguin chicks from the previous year. We were limited in how close we could get to the colony, to avoid disturbing the birds. Trying to isolate the feeding behavior was challenging, but I was finally able to get a few shots with plain backgrounds. This chick was harassing it's parent to provide food (which it eventually did).

About The Photographer
I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
