Into the Mist

Species: Roosevelt Elk | Location: Willapa Bay, Washington, United States

On may way to a meeting in Long Beach, WA, I was delayed at a bridge construction site. It was an early, misty morning. Not paying attention, I noticed a few drivers passing by looking out on the bay. As I looked over I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful site, and I had my camera with me. I made a quick turn around and parked and walked to the edge and captured this mystical shot. The resident Roosevelt Elk walking on the mud flats of Willapa Bay located on Highway 101 just south of South Bend, Washington. What a great place I live in.

About The Photographer

Cropped self

My art studies began in high school and continued into college. Last studying graphic design and photography at New Mexico State University, my husband and I then moved to Willapa Valley where I continue my work in the arts today.

I love working in many different mediums; color and black & white photography, oil pastels, and pen & ink, But I have found my passion in photography and working with my hands, making paper and creating mixed media collages allows me the freedom to work “outside the lines.”

My husband and I enjoy traveling and the outdoors, where I seem to always find something to photograph or pick up a treasure along the way for my mixed media collages. It has been said that “Cathy's photography style offers amazing technical perfection as she captures the true essence of her subject.”

As they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." "As I feel we are blessed with beauty surrounding us each and every day, and you can find it in everything, I choose to capture the moments and share with others!"
