Species: Gentoo Penguin | Location: Antarctic Peninsula, Continent of Antarctica
After a ride on the Zodiac onto shore, we were able to walk among colonies of penguins. This gentoo penguin is one of four species of penguins found on the Antarctic Peninsula, as well as various other wildlife such as leopard seals, southern elephant seals, gulls and petrels. Though there are no permanent residents here, there is an international community of scientists and is an important research site. This photo was taken on a trip to Antarctica with Nat Hab.
