Species: Florida Manatee | Location: Crystal River, Florida, USA
Shot at the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, Florida. Manatees usually keep their distance from humans but this one seemed quite curious and swam towards me, giving me the opportunity to take this detailed close-up image even though the water was quite murky.
NWR is a refuge created specifically for the protection of the endangered Florida Manatee. The refuge is fed by warm spring waters, providing the manatees with a perfect environment to spend the winters.
