Species: Canivet's Emerald Hummingbird | Location: Hacienda Solimar in Guanacaste, Costa Rica
We had just arrived at Hacienda Solimar in Costa Rica. The guide was making some arrangements for the afternoon. Before he left he told me to keep an eye out for a Canivet's Emerald hummingbird. I was just hanging out in the lounge area with the camera and tripod ready. Suddenly I saw a hummingbird working some flowers not to far away. I quietly got the camera into position and tried to anticipate where the bird would go next. I finally guessed right and was able to get a good shot.

About The Photographer
I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
