Species: White-collared Mannikin | Location: Arenal Hanging Bridges, Costa Rica
We were almost finished with our hike in the hanging bridges near Arenal. We had seen white-collared Manakins in other parks, but had never really gotten a good look as they tend to stay hidden. All of a sudden the guide called out my name and pointed, and there was a white-collared manakin sitting in the open. It stayed in position long enough for me to get off a shot. We were under the canopy with very low light, which meant shooting with a higher ISO and a lower shutter speed. Luckily the bird remained still.

About The Photographer
I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
