Species: Crested penguin | Location: South Island, New Zealand, New Zealand
There were only four of us that decided to hike to the "secret" area on New Zealand's west coast with the guide to possibly see the crested penguins. We had to cross five steams and it had rained heavily the night before. We made it to the beach and sat quietly on a log. It wasn't long before we saw three penguins in the water working their way to shore. The penguins made a loud call then the penguin in the photo appeared on the hill next to where we were seated. They had a joyous reunion and we got to witness it all. This photo was taken on a trip woth Nat Hab.
