Species: Spinner Dolphin | Location: Atlantic Ocean, Cape Verde
The ship was traveling between Ascension Island and Cape Verde. The ocean was deep, with little visible wildlife due to little available food. Our spotter on the bridge announced that a group of spinner dolphins was headed our way. There were over 50 of them. Initially I was just enthralled, watching them leaping and spinning. Then I decided I'd better take some photos. I focused on one small group of three and just hoped that one would leap and spin. They were almost at the ship when one of them finally did the spin, and I was able to capture the moment.

About The Photographer
I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
