Out of the Water

Species: Bottlenose Dolphin | Location: Atlantic Ocean, Tristan da Cunha

Our ship was traveling between Tristan da Cunha and St. Helena Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. We were traveling over the "blue desert" of deep water and little visible wildlife. Suddenly a group of dolphins headed toward the ship and began bow riding. They stayed for about 10 minutes. It was hard to decide which dolphin to photograph, but finally I saw one heading my way and just kept it in focus. The water was clear enough to see it under water. Finally it leapt out of the water and I was able to capture the photo.

About The Photographer

I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
