Species: African Lion | Location: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
This young cub was learning about life in the Serengeti. He was with his mother and they were just becoming active after a recent rainstorm. He followed his mama to a puddle to drink, jumped on her back a few times after he nursed for awhile, and then played hide and seek in the grass. During the time we watched this pair, they both stood at the edge of the swamp seemingly calling out to another animal in the distance. It is believed the mama had another cub that likely was taken by a predator and they were both showing their sorrow for their loss.
