Species: Magellanic Penguin | Location: Saunders Island, Falkland Islands
We had landed at Saunders Island in the Falklands. One of my goals for the landing was to get a good shot of Magellanic penguins. When we landed, there really weren't any in sight. I wandered around and took pictures of other wildlife. Finally I saw a few appearing in the distance. I moved as close as I could without disturbing them and was able to get a picture. They had been inside their burrows when we arrived and were just getting up and out in mid-morning.
