Grooming

Species: Japanese Snow Monkey | Location: Jigokudani Monkey Park, Japan

We had arrived early at the hotel and decided to hike to the monkey park. I decided to only bring my 28 - 300mm lens, as we were planning to spend the entire next day there. The light was starting to fade as we arrived, requiring a higher ISO. After taking lots of pictures, I sat back and waited for more interesting behavior. This younger monkey started grooming the older one right in front of me and I was able to get the shot.

About The Photographer

Cropped marian pantanaal

I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
