Species: African Crowned Crane | Location: Queen Elizabeth Park, Uganda
We were doing a game drive in a remote part of Queen Elizabeth Park. We had stopped for some cranes that were quite far away on our way to lunch. On the way back, the guide suddenly saw the cranes quite close. We stopped and I started taking pictures. By the time it was over, the crane was essentially right next to the vehicle. It was almost too close for a photo. This is the national bird of Uganda.

About The Photographer
I'm a world traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became an avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
