Species: Brown Bear | Location: Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park, Alaska, USA
During our two days at Brooks Camp, my wife and I took literally hundreds of photos of brown bears catching and feasting on the salmon attempting to jump the falls. Downstream a bit, one sow with three cubs in tow spent many patient hours demonstrating fishing technique and, when successful, feeding her cubs. Table manners were in short supply. Just after this photo, the more unruly got cuffed; the most successful absconded with this fish and sat down on a rock for a solitary meal. This photo was taken while on a trip to Alaska with Nat Hab.

About The Photographer
After decades of travel and landscape photography using film equipment, I was introduced to digital SLR technology during a winter photography safari to Yellowstone in 2006. Digital techniques rejuvenated my photographic enthusiasm. Nature, wildlife, and landscape remain my principal subjects, with occasional forays into architectural and macro photography.
