Species: Lion | Location: Ongava Preserve, Namibia
This image is of two juvenile male lions that were part of a pride of seven male juveniles, one adult male and two adult females. The juveniles had settled in after a full meal (we did not see the kill, but the many of their coats were smeared with blood) as we stopped for a sundowner in the Ongava Preserve outside of Etosha National Park, Namibia.
About The Photographer
Barry and his wife Susanna Maxwell retired from Northern Arizona University in 2010, after 19 years and 32 years on the faculty and in various administrative roles, respectively, to pursue their passion for travel and their love of photography.
Their photography interests focus on wildlife, people, places, and landscapes, but they also explore abstract compositions.
Susanna and Barry live in Flagstaff, AZ, in a home nestled among the pines trees with a view of the San Francisco Peaks.
