Species: Red-backed Squirrel Monkey | Location: Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica
My guide and I were just outside Manuel Antonio National Park, looking for squirrel monkeys. I don't know how Marco spotted a troop of squirrel monkeys heading in our direction, but he did. I positioned myself on the side of the street, hoping no cars would come. Most of the monkeys were high in the trees and hidden by foliage. Marco spotted this one, who came very close and scooped up a walking stick from the road. It sat on a low branch in perfect view, eating it's snack, and I was able to get several good shots before it climbed higher.
About The Photographer
I'm a wold traveler who has been traveling the globe for the past 15 years, visiting places that are being most impacted by global warming. My initial photography interest was in macros of plants and flowers, but once I obtained a longer lens, I became and avid wildlife photographer. I enjoy visiting off-the-beaten-path places and capturing images of the flora and fauna. I also enjoy sharing these images and experiences with others through my web site and personal presentations.
