About The Photographer

Cropped lara bio show

Lara is a fine art nature photographer, writer and university professor based out of West Palm Beach, FL.

Lara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Her love of literature and journalism led to a freelance magazine career before ultimately becoming a communication professor for several private and state universities. She is a part time faculty member with Florida International University, Southeastern University and Mid-America Christian University.

She credits purchasing a camera in 2017 as a major life-altering decision that introduced her to the world of fine art nature photography. “Not too long ago, I purchased my first camera which ultimately began this photographic journey. In fact, it was about two years ago when I realized that I was craving meaningful connections with the world around me. As the world’s reliance on technology continued to increase, I found myself yearning for more nature, more animals and more life. Ironically, however, I would need to use the technology of a camera and lens to find the very life I was looking for. And I am so glad that I did.”

In a short period of time, Lara’s photographs earned several awards and distinctions and can be found on the walls of galleries and museums throughout the East Coast of the United States as well as the West Coast of Florida. She has also published three photography and poetry books with more on the way and she uses her Instagram account as a way to connect with others.
