Species: Malachite Kingfisher | Location: Chobe River, Botswana
Each morning we would start the day, drifting up and down the Chobe River. Quietly moving in an out of channels and inlets, in search of the birdlife. The Chobe has plenty of Malachites. Actively they flit from pampas to reeds, to water and back again. This particular morning we spent at least half an hour with this little bird. Presenting himself in so many beautiful spots. So content was he to have our company, he even landed on the front of the boat, showing us his catch of the day. A wee insect. Mornings really don't get much better than this.

About The Photographer
I live in rural Scotland, surrounded by wildlife, and so many fantastic photographic opportunities. But it was a trip to Kenya in 2005, that had me discover a real love of photo composition. Africa is where I am happiest with my camera. I also love writing about my travels and experiences through my blog.
