A great blue heron who took off in flight and was captured as it crossed the wildlife drive at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Park.

About The Photographer
Barbara Gilbert is retired from the Air Force, as well as, being a former high school teacher in business and computers. She currently resides in Easton, Maryland, but has lived in Washington State and Montana prior to moving to Easton in 2013.
She has always loved photography but didn’t get serious about it till she purchased her first DSLR Camera in 2013 and began learning all she could about photography. She needed a hobby that she could do despite her physical limitations. Photography has been a way to bring her joy and peace as she looks for interesting subjects to photograph.
She has visited numerous countries and enjoys taking photos of old buildings, wildlife, landscapes, and other interesting subjects that catch her attention. Her most recent adventure is to learn and understand underwater photography while diving.
It wasn’t till she moved to Easton, MD and joined the Tidewater Camera club that she began printing and displaying pictures. She has had pictures displayed at Chesapeake College, Kent County Library, Easton Library, Talbot County Community Center, Academy of Art Museum, Veterans Administration (Perry Point) and the Dorchester Center for the Arts.
She has also entered numerous photo competitions, the last one being the VA Regional Arts Festival, winning 1st Place for “Old Hunting Lodge”. A photo of an old hunting Lodge off Lakesville Rd near Crapo, MD . She also took 2nd place for “Save the Monarch”.
