The Lion Sleeps Tonight!

Species: Panthera leo | Location: Gir. Gujrat India., India

It was a hot summer day ,we were in the Gir forest of Gujrat in India, the only dedicated reserve for the Asiatic Lion.We had been walking for over two hours and had stopped under the shade of a tree to rest and have a drink.I was sitting with my back against the tree trunk and looking through my field glasses when in the distance I spotted the master with the missus !!

I was transfixed by the scene as I saw the pair relaxing in the shade without a care in the world. It was quite sometime before I could peel my eyes off the binoculars pick up my camera to capture this beautiful moment in time.

About The Photographer

Cropped r copy

I'm a wildlife and nature lover settled in a small Cantonment town called "Mhow " which may be an acronym (Military Headquarter Of War) given by the British during their rule in India during the second WW. My town is surrounded by two major forest ranges; "The Choral Forest" range and the "Simrol Forest" range. The tress are deciduous and hence we have a lot of greenery even during the scorching Indian summer. I live with my wife who has a doctorate in English Literature and is an internationally published poet, and my nine year old son who loves tennis.
