Howler Monkey

Species: Howler Monkey | Location: Community Baboon Sanctuary, Belize

Somewhere deep in the protected lands of the baboon sanctuary in southern Belize, not far from the Monkey River. These are wild lands, it is not a zoo and anything can come your way. As it happened, we were standing among a group of cashew fruit trees when a family of howler monkeys—consisting of an alpha male, a mother, two young and a baby—wandered into the trees and had lunch for about an hour. They were curious but not aggressive as they played and ate while we filmed. One of my top ten field experiences for sure. Here is the alpha male.
