Species: Brown Bear | Location: Brooks Falls, Katmai NP Alaska, United States of America
Captured at Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park, Alaska. This sub-adult brown bear spent his time fishing at the base of the falls. Adults frown on young bears getting into the best spots on top of the falls (pecking order I guess). We watched this poor guy struggle to catch a fish out of the foam for about 45 minutes. At last he landed this salmon and had the good snack he so deserved.

About The Photographer
I'm a retired physician and have been doing photography since 1975. When I retired to Colorado in 2008 I became interested in wildlife photography and have pursued this interest avidly since then. With my wife, Julie Picardi, also a photographer, I have made several trips to Alaska, British Columbia (including the Great Bear Rain Forest where we photographed the Kermode Bear), Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, Grand Teton NP, Rocky Mt NP, and many other places where wildlife is plentiful.
