Species: Sandhill Cranes | Location: Rowe Santcurary, USA
Every year over 6-400,000 sandhill cranes congregate along an 80-mile stretch of the Platte River in Nebraska to feed and gain energy for the flight to their summer nesting grounds. This photo shows some of them leaving their overnight roost on the Platte River for the fields surrounding the Rowe Sanctuary near Gibbon, Nebraska. There were an estimated 24,00 birds on Rowe's 2-3 mile portion of the river this morning.
