Reddish Dawn

Species: Reddish Egret | Location: Bunche Beach Preserve, Fort Myers, Florida, United States

I arrived at Bunche Beach Preserve a bit before sunrise and one of the first birds I came upon was this reddish egret. It was one of a pair of them that were starting to hunt in the soft dawn light. This bird stopped for a few moments so I could drop to the ground and take a few shots from the ground pod. Behind me was a brilliant sunrise, the clouds were lit up like fire. In the direction of the egret, the colors were more subtle with the soft pinks and blues you see here. It created a wonderful color palette for this reddish egret portrait.
