Northern Lights Video Tutorial
Photographing the northern lights is one of the high points of any nature photographer’s life. And with more known about the phenomenon, as well as the best places in the world to see them, northern lights photo adventures are becoming more and more extraordinary.
However, they can be quite challenging to photograph! Thus, our video team at Natural Habitat Adventures have put together this tutorial video, with yours truly, to teach you exactly how to capture the aurora–all filmed while under the aurora itself!
It’s quite a unique video that I think is as beautiful as it is helpful.
Whether you’re headed on an upcoming aurora trip or simply want to watch a stunning short film about the phenomenon and photographic advice on northern lights, I think you’re really going to enjoy this video.
If you are indeed headed up to photograph the lights in world-renowned Churchill, Manitoba, I might just see you up there!
Enjoy,
Court

Dr. Whelan, your photos are truly amazing and beautiful. Very jealous, Im 55 yrs old and have never observed the Auora in person but plan to. What brand camera do you use for you live view and still shots?
Thanks
Brad
thank you, Brad! I shoot with a Canon mirrorless full frame (R5) and love it! Full frame is super helpful for the low light of aurora photography :). Thanks for the kind words!
