Species: Reddish Egret/White Morph, Egretta rufescens | Location: Navarre, Florida, United States of America
White Morph Reddish Egret ...Feeding Dance. Reddish Egrets are a highly, threatened, and endangered species. In the entire state of Florida it is estimated that there are only 400 to 600 Reddish Egrets left...of which, only 1 % become White Morphs....that means only 40 to 60!! The species Reddish Egrets perform a unique feeding dance...they are a "wading" shorebird and will rush back and forth, back and forth to catch their fish...but the unique part is that they will spread their wings to "shade" the water to help them locate their meal. To witness a "brown" - true Reddish or above all a White Morph "fish" is amazing...but to catch the early morning sunrise reflecting off the pure white wings of the White Morph is truly amazing to see.
About The Photographer
I have been Blessed enough in the past several years to live in an area of Northwest Florida, along the Gulf Coast, that attracts unique, endangered and threatened species of shorebirds. To be able to see and photograph so many unique and incredible birds is a truly exciting and humbling experience...and I hope, through my photography, to share the unique and incredible beauty that I see.
