Elk, Yellowstone NP, United States of America
A Glimpse Through the Trees

Species: Elk | Location: Yellowstone NP, United States of America

This seven point elk was right along the highway in Yellowstone National Park; when we drove by he was coming out of the forest to cross the road, where he stopped to bugle a few times before moving off into the trees again. We were lucky enough to get a good look at him out in the open (the biggest elk I have ever seen) and watch him for nearly a half hour rub and mark up a few trees. Although I got many pictures of him on the road and in the open I chose this shot because it was the one that stood out the most. This is the way wildlife should be seen.

About The Photographer

My photography is a years-long hobby that I got into because I have a hard time describing to others how I experience the world. I discovered that pictures do it so much better than I ever could, so I took a few classes and continue to learn through experience. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast and am happiest when I am exploring parks and wilderness, usually looking for wildlife, my other passion. I am a wildlife biologist and seeing animals through a camera lens has widened my view of the natural world.
