Texas alligator lizard, Big Bend National Park, TX, United States of America
Whirlwind

Species: Texas alligator lizard | Location: Big Bend National Park, TX, United States of America

As we were descending by South Rim hiking trail we came upon two lizards in the midst of the fight. One was clenching the other one's throat in his jaws. We were sure that we are witnessing the tragic end of the loser. Yet in less than a minute supposedly defeated lizard broke the hold and was striking back while both were spinning in the whirlwind of attacks. We never saw the lady for whose attention they fought yet we are sure that she should be satisfied with the ferocity of both contenders.

About The Photographer

I'm a graduate student in computational material science. Which means I spend every day in front of computer screen. And the only way one can survive this type of lifestyle is by seizing every opportunity to escape into the wild! I, personally, do it with camera in hands: "To see - to capture - to share!"
