Echidna, Strzelecki Mountain, Flinders Island, Australia
An Unexpected Friend

Species: Echidna | Location: Strzelecki Mountain, Flinders Island, Australia

I spent a few months one winter doing a work/trade at a friends' retreat center on Flinders Island in the State of Tasmania, in Australia. Several times while walking on the property, I would see these adorable mammals that looked like a cross between an ant eater and a porcupine. They don't move too fast and are really focused on digging with their long snouts looking for food, so I would have so much find watching them. One day we took a hike up the largest mountain on the Island, at the top I was thrilled to see another Echidna. Our friend said it was pretty rare to see them on top of the mountain like that, so I felt pretty blessed.

About The Photographer

Cropped photo for new brochure
I am an amateur photographer whom loves spending time in nature, which I am blessed to get to do often. I particularly enjoy capturing the animals I am privileged to see, wild flowers and of course landscapes of all types. You can rarely capture the beauty that is experienced when being in the wilderness, but it's fun to try.
