2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Swan, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Canada
Springing to Life

Species: Swan | Location: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Canada

These newly born signets rest among their yet-to-be-born brothers or sisters after a tiring themselves out playing on the lake. I deliberately chose a title that, at first, seems counter to the photo. However, it's intent to speak more to spring the time of year for new life than to the sleeping signets.

About The Photographer

Cropped jay 2

Growing up in northern Ontario created within me a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors. Friends and I would spend hours throughout the summer, biking, hiking, camping, fishing, boating or swimming in the lake. So, it's no surprise my favourite subjects to photograph are nature and wildlife. Both for their beauty and, the latter, because of the feeling of accomplishment when I get "the shot". There's not usually a way to control the animal, the lighting or the environment so when it all comes together in a perfect moment, and the shutter clicks, it's truly a fantastic feeling.
