White-backed Vultures and Wild Dog, Mana Pools NP, Zimbabwe
Chased Again

Species: White-backed Vultures and Wild Dog | Location: Mana Pools NP, Zimbabwe

White-backed vultures had gathered to wait for a splinter pack of four wild dogs to leave the remains of an impala they had taken down. The dogs finally wandered a few yards away into the shade and the vultures began to move in -- quietly, at first -- until fighting over the carcass drew the dogs' attention. One of dogs rushed in and the vultures took off. Quite a spectacle!

About The Photographer

Traveler, observer and, on good days, wiser than the day before. I capture images of places that will be but memories unless we protect them. Sweeping vistas of our wild places, along with the details and intimate scenes that make the wild unforgettable. From the movement of water, leaves and wildlife to the stillness that creates mirror like reflections and calm within the heart; from the wild of the Everglades and Africa to the tamed wilderness of the city garden -- these are places I hope to protect by sharing their beauty.
