2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Lion, Okavango Delta, Botswana
Lion Reflection

Species: Lion | Location: Okavango Delta, Botswana

While on early morning safari in Botswana, my wife and I were privileged to watch this unfold. We watched one female return and greeted by another female with cubs while two males watched from a distance. Unfortunately, the returning female (farthest left) lost her cub in the preceding 24 hours. While these lions look alert while drinking, they took many liberties making themselves rather vulnerable to crocs, especially the cubs.
