Species: Giant River Otter | Location: Pantanal, Brazil
This was taken in the Pantanal, Brazil and I was in a very small boat with 3 other photographers following the giant river otters moving quickly through the water. Due to the lens and camera, I was sitting down at the back and discovered it was almost impossible to get a photo of these otters, as they were just moving too fast - so were we. So, I decided to go along the banks as we were moving, our boat slowed and this otter came up with his fish. I handheld the camera with 500mm lens, my husband held me to make sure I didn't go overboard and this was the shot. I was thrilled and even our pro photographer/guide was amazed and he featured this shot in his blog, as no-one else had seen him let alone managed a photo.
