Selasphorus rufus, Lime Kiln Park, Washington, United States of America
Rufous in Flight

Species: Selasphorus rufus | Location: Lime Kiln Park, Washington, United States of America

A male Rufous Hummingbird hovering in mid-air. I was under a canopy of cedar trees when I spotted him. Partially underexposing the photo led to the black background, with his bright orange body standing out.

I am a self-disciplined Pacific Northwest wildlife photographer, with a strong interest in conservation work. Placing ethics before the desire to 'get the shot', I utilizes natural light to cause as little disturbance as possible. I shoots in manual focus, manual exposure and process my images accordingly.
