Australasian gannet, Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Austalasian gannets bickering, Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand

Species: Australasian gannet | Location: Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

Gannets normally nest on remote offshore islands. Cape Kidnappers, near Napier in New Zealand is unique in that you can access the colony either across a farm, or by tractor along the beach. The nests are crammed together, and gannets are territorial, so moving into someone else's territory can result in a peck and a chase.
