Species: Black Bear | Location: Great Smoky Mountains National Park, United States of America
I was driving through Cades Cove on my way to a hike when we hit a wildlife traffic jam. It was this mother black bear, with her one cub. I grabbed my camera beside me, hopped out of the car and ducked low behind a small hill. The bear was wondering through the thick forest, doing a great job at keeping her cub hidden from all of us. There was also a park ranger who was doing a great job at keeping people from getting too close. It was one of those happy little surprises.
