2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Pelicans, Manitoba, Winnipeg, neighbouring lake., Canada
A family in love - sharing is caring

Species: Pelicans | Location: Manitoba, Winnipeg, neighbouring lake., Canada

On my way to home from work, there is a school zone with a speed limit 30km/hour. The same zone has an adjacent lake which stays very busy all summer and fall with variety of ducks and water fowls. With slower speed, I happened to notice these beautiful pelicans, swimming. The sun was going down and I drove home within the speed limit, to pick up my camera and hoping these amazing birds would still be there.

On coming back, I found them to be there but now with the setting sun they appeared simply divine. My first impression looking at them was `they are so caring`. The smallest one (which I assumed was the baby) was tucked in the middle, protected by the elders of the family. It reminded me my caring parents, my childhood and my current role as a mother of a special need child!

About The Photographer

I am a lover of nature and wildlife. I strongly believe that if one has a passion for photography in wildlife and nature, there is no need to look distant land. They exists all around us. One just have to heighten their sense of appreciation, observation and bring out the creativity to capture that moment. With a full time job and a son with special needs I donot get many opportunity to travel far for photography. My passion for photography and creativity therefore is limited to local neighbourhood parks, lakes and many times my backyard. My vision is limited with cataract in both eyes. The world looks stunningly beautiful through the camera lenses. I see everything so much bigger and better. My favourite lens is the telephoto zoom. This is what I say to myself everyday **The world looks so much beautiful through these lenses, capture every moment and cherish it for years to come**
