2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

A female Mallard, Manitoba, Winnipeg. Local pond., Canada
Fashionista - you state an example

Species: A female Mallard | Location: Manitoba, Winnipeg. Local pond., Canada

I have wondered many times how meticulously does water birds clean their feathers and with such perfection! They take as long as it takes until the job is done up to the mark. The spread of the wings, the arch of the neck, the splash of the water, the look in their eye, portrays a whole different creative world that reminds me of artistic functionality.

This picture taken during the sunset has brought out the unique blue shine in this female mallard. All the shades of brown has been highlighted beautifully. She sure has a style, grace and elegance of her own...that makes her a true fashionista in the wild.

About The Photographer

I am a lover of nature and wildlife. I strongly believe that if one has a passion for photography in wildlife and nature, there is no need to look distant land. They exists all around us. One just have to heighten their sense of appreciation, observation and bring out the creativity to capture that moment. With a full time job and a son with special needs I donot get many opportunity to travel far for photography. My passion for photography and creativity therefore is limited to local neighbourhood parks, lakes and many times my backyard. My vision is limited with cataract in both eyes. The world looks stunningly beautiful through the camera lenses. I see everything so much bigger and better. My favourite lens is the telephoto zoom. This is what I say to myself everyday **The world looks so much beautiful through these lenses, capture every moment and cherish it for years to come**
