2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Species: Egret | Location: Des Planes River, Dam #1 Woods East, Wheeling, IL, United States of America

One of the things that I've learned from my Nathab guides is that nature is all around, even in the suburbs outside Chicago. A series of dams were removed from the Des Plaines River, it's recovering and wildlife is returning. We routinely see ducks, geese, and more birds than I can identify. While walking around with my camera, I came across this egret, and in an instant, his beak was in the water, he had a "snack" and it went down the hatch.
