King Penguin, Salisbury Plain, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
Bad Hair Day on South Georgia Island

Species: King Penguin | Location: Salisbury Plain, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands

Oh woe is the adolescent King Penguin! Abandoned by his parents, unable yet to swim or feed himself, he must spend up to three months onshore unfed and miserable as he molts into adult feathers. Adding insult to injury, the half-molted King Penguin has to be one of the more ridiculous sights nature has to offer.
