Canada Goose (Branta canadensis), Mississippi River, Carleton Place, ON, Canada
River Flight

Species: Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) | Location: Mississippi River, Carleton Place, ON, Canada

Shot in the fall, this is a flight of Canada Geese taking off from the riverbank and sweeping down the Mississippi river in Carleton Place, ON. This was taken as I slowly and gradually made my way along the riverbank, taking pictures as I went and then they suddenly took off. The combination of the colors and the thick fog make this one of my favorite images.

About The Photographer

Cropped profilepic m
I have always loved the outdoors and used to spend hours looking through National Geographic magazine as a kid. I was drawn to the incredible imagery and it transported me to lands and worlds far away, taking me to that time and place and allowing me to step out of my own for a time. That feeling stuck with me and it drew me to take up photography when I was old enough to afford my first film camera. With the advent of digital photography I had the opportunity to marry my career in technology to the passion of photography. The camera became a tool for exploration and recording the world around me. By capturing landscapes to macro I refined and redefined the way I see and with this came the desire to share this vision with others. Often times, taking the picture is only the start of the process of bringing my vision to life. In each image I try to find the connection between heart and mind to connect to the viewer emotionally and evoke that same sense of awe I experienced through the camera lens. My hope is that through my images others can experience that same feeling of being transported out of their busy lives and can reconnect with the world around them and do their part to help keep it safe for generations to come.
