2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Species: Alaskan Brown Bear | Location: Kodiak Island Wildlife Refuge, United States of America

This young cub decided to take on a salmonberry bush while his mom fished for red salmon in a nearby stream. Much to his dismay a branch became entangled in the fur on his back. He eventually managed to pull it up over his head but was still unable to disconnect this irritating piece of foliage from his body.

I grew up on the outskirts of Yellowstone National Park but have lived in or near Kodiak, AK for the last 30 years. Watching and photographing nature and its many forms of wildlife has been a passion and pursuit for years.
