Bald Eagle, Osprey , Ft Myers, FL, United States of America
Defending the Nest

Species: Bald Eagle, Osprey | Location: Ft Myers, FL, United States of America

While admiring a bald eagle's nest--two adults and three chicks--near Ft. Myers, FL, the nest and all five of its occupants came under attack. An osprey made a series of sorties against this perennial enemy, first from the left, then a level raid from the rear, and finally, a steep descent from above. Each time, one of the eagles rose to meet it, successfully driving it off. This photo repulsed the osprey's third and final sally.
