2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Yellow-crowned Amazon, Mealy Amazon, Blue-headed parrot, Yasuni National Park, Ecuador
Take off

Species: Yellow-crowned Amazon, Mealy Amazon, Blue-headed parrot | Location: Yasuni National Park, Ecuador

One of the most amazing experiences I've ever had visiting a clay lick in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Your senses are alight with colour and noise as these amazing birds ingest their daily dose of clay to combat the toxins they ingest from eating unripe seeds. These birds travel miles ever day and risk predation to make it to these licks.
