Species: Alaskan Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) | Location: Katmai National Park, United States of America
While there was always plenty of action from the Alaskan Brown Bears that were catching Sockeye Salmon, this bear decided to take a nap directly in the river with a comfy rock as a pillow. For about 30 minutes it laid there very still, which allowed me to use a slow shutter to blur the motion of the water. What amazed me most is when out of no where, the bear woke from its sleep and with one giant WACK! of its paw, caught a salmon that was passing by.
About The Photographer
Photography and film are large mediums which bring adventure and wonder to our living rooms. My personal goal is to share images of the natural world for the purpose of conservation and education. With wildlife photography, I believe it's important to share more than just a pretty picture. Informing the audience of the biology relating to the subject and the role it plays in its ecosystem bridges gaps and builds connections with nature.Follow Dan on Instagram: @www.instagram.com/dan_mele_photography/
