Mom Feeds Her Hummingbird Chicks

Species: Black-chinned hummingbird | Location: Residence in Santa Fe, NM, United States of America

This hummingbird nest on a Soleri bell has been used four years in a row by a black-chinned hummingbirds in Santa Fe, NM. The nest is visible from our kitchen window, so I can follow the activity for the five weeks between when mom laid the two eggs and the chicks fledged. I sit in our walled garden in the morning and take photographs of the chicks and the mom as I eat breakfast.
